For Reals!!! (no service at state park – sooo… late post)

This is really happening! 10 days in & this is feeling a little more real now. We had a family meeting yesterday & decided our pace needs to slow down. We seem to be running to see everything while still trying to put some miles in to the next adventure.

It is really difficult to downshift from home life where we were running in every direction separately and together. To just trying to soak in family life & traveling.

Milly is really feeling like home! We drive for a few hours & park her & as soon as we walk in I feel like I’m at home. It’s so nice. My view is very different every night – but Milly feels comfortable always. The best is when we pull into a campsite at night and we can’t really see much of the landscape. And in the morning its discovering what our surroundings are now. A gorgeous red mountain range can be just in the distance.

I am more than impressed with the girls and they way they are handling the unexpected! We are still learning to roll with the punches, but I think that might be more of a lifelong lesson for everyone, than just this trip.

Park’s sense of adventure has been contagious. The first night we pulled into San Elijo, she said “Mom, we’ve been here before. I thought this trip was about seeing new places… Can we only be here one night?” She is always ready to jump into the truck & head to our new destination to discover a new plant, friend or bike ride around the campground. It is so fun to watch her sense of wonder as we discover new things. I am loving living through her 7 year old vantage point.

Don’t get me wrong, the truck is proving to be quite cramped quarters for all 3 girls to be shoulder to shoulder on our long 5-7 hour drives to our new destination… but we try to make it with the least amount of tears & least amount of sibling squalls. Hopefully along with slowing the pace down our mileage with shorten too.

So great to see you are slowing down just a bit. Love this pic and the one of Parker at the top of the sand dunes. That’s an amazing shot! Love you all so much and missing my squeezes!
