South Island, New Zealand

We took a hike at Abel Tasman! Most beautiful hike ever - right along the ocean - the only way to get there is by boat! Found "Cleopatra's pool" on our hike. Just a bit FREEZING - but I had to take a waterfall shot with my girl! Our boat ride - here are some tired hikers. Picking a Christmas Tree from the Christmas Tree farm! We got to see santa at a hardware store! Decorating for Christmas in our air BnB! $1 Stockings with a little decor! Just a little excited for the big day! Christmas Eve caroling in town square! Best tradition Ever!!! In NZ Santa gets beer & cookies... I believe a new tradition is in order! Nothing like some Vegemite in your stocking! Stocking loot! We were told you BBQ on Christmas & "take a swim"! We had follow the customs! Such a great tradition! Nelson Lakes. The girls made friends with our neighbors at camp on Nelson Lakes... they invited them to ride their "biscuit"! The girls had a blast! Sometimes you just have to take in the beauty laying down! Kiki on the beach. Fish & chips! In perfect Kiwi style wrapped in paper! Arthur's Pass! Breakfast with this cutie! A little New Years Day dip in freezing waterfall! Ringing in 2018 the RIGHT way. A couple asked it Parker would take their picture - Amazing! Franz Josef Glacier Stopped off the side of the road to take in a little beauty! Blue Pools! Matt & the girls debating on a swim in the icy water! Char, Kiki & Parker discussing swimming back across the freezing water! The girls making more Kiwi friends again on Lake Hewea! Do as the natives do... maybe they won't know we're not from around here... Laundry day. Breakfast on the "patio"... All dignity is gone at this point... Kiki shaving Matt's back. Hiking to a glacier! Rob Roy Glacier! Amazing Hike! Hiking with sheep... Horseback ride at Lake Tekapo We told the girls they needed to watch Lord of the Rings since we were in NZ... We turned it off after 10 minutes... too scary for them. Parker's Birthday in Queenstown - we went to the ice bar! Everything is made of ice - even the cups! Nothing like a jet boat ride in 4" of water!!! Sheep shearing! New Zealand "fair" - they have wool competitions. Lake Te Anau! Pier jumping!!! Milford Sound on a VERY rainy day! There was so many waterfalls we lost count at 212. Parker Captaining the boat! The girls naming the waterfalls! Kiki trying to stay out of the cold on the bow of the boat. Riverton - Diving for mussels! So yummy! Bluff - Most Southern point of the South Island! Swimming with Hector Dolphins in the Catlins! Searching for Penguins! Endangered Yellow eyed penguin on the rocks - can you spot him? Catlins - kite flying! Cathedral Caves did NOT disappoint! You can only get to the caves at low tide - so we planned our day around them and we are so glad we did! We even found a blue penguin in the back of one of the caves. No thank you, I'm going to pass on that cave... Endangered Yellow Eyed penguin siting on the beach! Shark bell - if you see a shark in the water ring the bell to get people out of the water... We visited the friends we met at Lake Hewea at their home in Dunedin. Fluer's Restaurant! NOT to be missed! So yummy! Moeraki Boulders Akaroa Paua - Abalone diving! 2 black foot & 1 yellow foot for dinner! International Antarctic Centre was AWESOME in Christchurch!
